Bringing Summer Smiles to Tohoku東北に夏のスマイルを運んで

School kids in Tohoku got a summer break so in August, we visited daycare centers, kindergartens and special events. The Smile Ambassador performed twice during the Ofunato Tanabata Festival. Banks and shops on the local shopping street were all destroyed. Now this small shopping center became the center of Ofunato community and commerce. Some even call it the Shotengai.

東北の子どもたちに夏休みがやってきました。そして8月、私たちは、保育園、幼稚園、スペシャルイベントなどを訪問しました。ニコニコ大使は岩手・大船渡の七夕祭りの間、2回公演を行ないました。地元の商店街に軒を連ねていた銀行、商店などは全て破壊されてしまっています。
今ではこの小さなショッピングセンターが大船渡の地域の中核となっています。ここを「商店街」と呼ぶ人たちも居ます。
